The work of Tian Teng is magical, the shadows and vibrant colours, a simple window made interesting by her fine but firm brush strokes. The “postcode” series are intriguing, what is behind that door, or window? The animals are so lively, they seem to jump off the canvas.

Artist´s statement
In my recent painting series ‘The Shape of Unseen’, I focus mainly on the normal daily window scenes which could be easily taken as granted and overlooked by locals, highlighting the details and corners of everyday life as seen through her outsider’s eyes.  With post code attached as sub-titles, I hope that these paintings could remind, and more importantly encourage viewers to take note and appreciate what is always around us.
